Peter Burke
Killybegs native Peter Burke is on course to become a Countdown octochamp after winning his fifth game today.
Peter Burke, who is originally from Killybegs, has been the champion of the TV gameshow since last Thursday. The son of Fergus and Brenda Burke, the family moved to live in Donegal Town a number of years ago. Peter has since moved to work in London.
Peter flew into the lead early in the game. At one point Peter had double the score of his opponent. Peter proved a very relaxed contestand and during the number rounds flew to the top of the table.
Nearing the end of the game, Peter came up with 8-letter words and even came close to solving a number round that number cruncher Rachel Riley said was impossible.
Host Colin Murray has his sights on Peter to become a champion of champions saying he spotted Peter's talents early on in the game.
He said: "Peter you have got to wait for ages now. We have got the end of seasons finale - then we got the champion of champions, how exciting, and then you will be back to become an octochamp."
