A driver who was 2.5 times over the legal limit was arrested by the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit last night amidst warnings of treacherous road conditions.
The arrest was made in the early hours of the morning, Thursday, in the Letterkenny area.
The driver was charged to appear in court in the New Year.
Meanwhile, gardaí are urging road users to be careful and to heed their advice on the avoidance of certain routes.
