REVEALED: Taoiseach Simon Harris confirms date of General Election
Taoiseach Simon Harris has finally confirmed that he intends to call the General Election this Friday, 8 November, with polling day likely taking place on Friday, 29 November.
There has been great speculation surrounding the possible date of the General Election in recent weeks, and it perhaps comes as no surprise that the highly-anticipated election will be held within the month of November.
Speaking on RTE's Six One programme, the Taoiseach shared that he intended to wait until the Finance Bill was passed before dissolving the Dáil.
On Tuesday, Harris said that the Finance Bill which underpins Budget 2025 was the final piece of legislation that needed to be passed before he could request the dissolution of the Dáil.

The Taoiseach said: "It is my intention then to seek the dissolution of the Dáil by President Higgins on Friday.
"As I would have discussed with the other coalition leaders, it's my hope that we will have polling day in this country on 29 November."
Simon Harris continued to say: "I'm looking forward to the weeks ahead and asking the people of Ireland for a mandate."
