Damson Idris to star in Netflix adaptation of The Lords’ Day

Damson Idris will star in a new Netflix adaptation of Michael Dobbs’ political thriller, The Lords’ Day.

The upcoming series, based on the novel by the best-selling author, will see Idris star as Harry Jones, a British spy trapped in the House of Lords as it is seized by foreign terrorists during the State Opening of Parliament.

The 34-year-old actor, known for the TV series Snowfall and sport blockbuster F1: The Movie, will also executive produce the six-part series.

The Lords’ Day, released in 2007, is an espionage thriller written by Dobbs , who is best known for his hit novel House Of Cards, which was adapted into a critically acclaimed Netflix series in 2013.

The upcoming series will be produced by Bad Wolf, the Cardiff-based company behind shows including Industry and Red Eye and took over the production of BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who in 2023.

Jane Tranter and Dan McCulloch will also overseeing the project as executive producers alongside Idris, and other executive producers include Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, who are also lead writers for the series.

Ben Chanan, known for writing BBC thriller The Capture, will also serve as an executive producer and will direct the TV show.

The Lords’ Day is set to start filming later this year, with further production details yet to be announced.
