Kevin O’Hara scored a stunning long-range goal as Hamilton secured a 2-1 advantage to take into the second leg of their cinch Scottish Championship play-off final against Inverness.
O’Hara fired the hosts into a sixth-minute lead with a spectacular strike from distance which flew over goalkeeper Mark Ridgers as he back-pedalled helplessly towards his own line.
They doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute when Fergus Owens rattled the crossbar with his initial effort and then followed up to nod the rebound over the line.
The visitors reduced the deficit with 22 minutes remaining when Aribim Pepple struck and Michael Hewitt and O’Hara both missed late chances to restore Hamilton’s two-goal cushion.
