Marie Hobinger’s stoppage-time penalty secures Liverpool win at Tottenham

Marie Hobinger converted a stoppage-time penalty to earn Liverpool a dramatic 3-2 Women’s Super League victory at Tottenham.

Cornelia Kapocs gave the visitors a 10th-minute lead with a superb 35-yard lob over Spurs goalkeeper Becky Spencer.

The hosts got back on level terms nine minutes after the restart when Taylor Hinds put through her own net from Jessica Naz’s cross and, although Hobinger restored her side’s lead in the 75th minute with a stunning free-kick into the top corner, Clare Hunt’s deflected strike once again levelled the score.

However, Hobinger snatched Liverpool’s first win of the season with a penalty in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Manchester City moved top of the table with a 2-0 triumph over West Ham, secured by a goal in each half from Lauren Hemp and Mary Fowler.

England forward Hemp put City ahead with a left-footed finish in the 10th minute, after the winless Hammers had seen a Viviane Asseyi goal chalked off for offside.

Fowler then made the game safe in the 71st minute when Khadija Shaw intercepted Shelina Zadorsky’s back-pass and crossed for the Australia international to head home.

Annabel Blanchard’s brace helped Crystal Palace register their first WSL win of the season after beating Leicester 2-0.

Katie Stengel provided a backheel flick to set the forward up for her first, where she blasted the ball into the bottom corner.

Blanchard then earned her brace shortly afterwards from the penalty spot to send Palace into eighth in the table, while the winless Foxes drop into 10th.

Everton picked up their first point of the season courtesy of a gritty goalless draw at Arsenal.
