Football rumours: Wolves circling Giorgi Chakvetadze for January transfer

What the papers say

Wolves have reportedly marked Watford striker Giorgi Chakvetadze as a primary transfer target for January. According to The Sun, manager Gary O’Neil views the Georgian as an option to spark his side’s attacking capacity. Chakvetadze has scored once and provided two assists in 12 Championship appearances this term, and has tallied nine goals in 33 caps for Georgia.

The Daily Star reports Josko Gvardiol is set to have a stellar run of form rewarded by Manchester City. The defender, who signed a five-year contract last summer worth £120,000 a week, is said to be on the verge of signing a new contract that would boost his weekly salary to £150,000 and keep him at the Etihad until 2030. Since arriving from RB Leipzig, the 22-year-old quickly rose to become a permanent fixture in Pep Guardiola’s first-choice defence.

The Daily Mirror says Jordan Henderson is unsettled at Ajax and has been linked with a potential return to his hometown club Sunderland.
