Jordan Pickford agrees terms on new long-term deal at Everton

Jordan Pickford has agreed terms on a new long-term contract with Everton, the PA news agency understands.

Sources close to the goalkeeper say there was never any question of the 31-year-old going anywhere else and a new deal could be confirmed by Everton later this week when the player returns from England duty.

Pickford has been at Everton since joining them from Sunderland in 2017, with his current deal running until 2027.

He has made 300 Premier League appearances for the Toffees since then and remains a key part of the squad under manager David Moyes.

Pickford has won 79 caps for England and has been his country’s number one at the last four major tournaments, stretching back to the 2018 World Cup.

Speaking at an England press conference in Riga ahead of Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia, Pickford said: “It just shows the hard work I have put in, day in and day out.

“On the training pitch, Monday to Friday, I will always give 100 per cent and try to improve myself.

“The more games you play, the more mature you become. You learn more about the game as well.

“I am always trying to improve and better myself. I just want to keep improving. I am 31 now, which is still young as a keeper, so I just want to keep pushing myself and see where I can get to.”

Everton declined to comment when contacted by PA on Monday.
