Partick Thistle come from behind to win at Ayr and join St Johnstone at the top

Partick Thistle hit back from behind to beat 10-man Ayr 2-1 at Firhill and climb level on points with leaders St Johnstone at the top of the table.

Tsoanelo Letsosa fired Partick level early in the second half after Ethan Walker had given Ayr the lead just before the break and Ben Stanway struck a 50th-minute winner.

The visitors, who slipped to their first league defeat on the road this season, were reduced to 10 men in the 72nd minute after Walker received his second yellow card.

Thistle have lost just one of their first 11 league games this term and extended their unbeaten home run to six matches.

Dunfermline moved up one place to fifth after thrashing Airdrieonians 4-0 at the Albert Bartlett Stadium, with the Tod brothers both on target.

Andrew Tod headed the visitors into the lead late in the first half and notched his second – assisted by Matthew Tod – just before the break.

Matthew Tod’s low finish early in the second period put Dunfermline 3-0 up before Airdrie hit the woodwork through Euan Henderson’s effort.

The home side went down to 10 men with nine minutes remaining when Liam McStravick was shown a straight red card for violent conduct and Chris Kane added the Pars’ fourth with a free-kick in the 90th minute.
