Stenhousemuir back to winning ways against Peterhead

Stenhousemuir returned to winning ways in Scottish League One with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Peterhead.

Without a win in four games, Euan O’Reilly slotted home from the penalty spot after 10 minutes to give Stenhousemuir the lead.

They then wrapped up the game following a destructive eight-minute spell, where Ross Taylor scored twice either side of another O’Reilly effort.

Kieran Shanks scored a consolation for Peterhead in the 77th minute as they slipped to a seventh league defeat.

Inverness remain top of the table, three points clear of Stenhousemuir, after beating Queen of the South 4-0.

Liam Sole and Chanka Zimba both scored before the break and second-half goals from Adam Mackinnon and Alfie Bavidge wrapped up a fourth straight league win.

Alloa are two points behind Stenhousemuir after they were held to a goalless draw by Cove Rangers, who moved off the foot of the table to sit above Kelty Hearts on goal difference following their 3-1 defeat to Hamilton.

Craig Johnston had levelled for Kelty after Oli Shaw opened the scoring, but Shaw sent Hamilton back in front after the break and Kevin O’Hara made the game safe.

Montrose earned their first league win since September after beating East Fife 2-1.

Ewan Loudon put Montrose ahead from the penalty spot and although Andy Munro levelled, the hosts retook the lead on the stroke of half-time through Callum Sandilands.

In League Two, leaders Spartans were stunned by a 4-0 defeat to Stranraer.

A ruthless first half saw Stranraer score all four goals, with Deryn Lang opening the scoring in the 27th minute before Mark Russell scored from the penalty spot four minutes later.

Aaron Quigg and Evan Dunne struck before the break to wrap up a fourth league win of the season.

East Kilbride missed the chance to leapfrog Spartans into top spot after being held to a 1-1 draw by bottom side Edinburgh.

Innes Lawson fired Edinburgh ahead before Connor Young equalised for East Kilbride, who are one point off the summit and three points ahead of Clyde, who beat Annan 1-0 through Taylor Sutherland’s effort 27 seconds into the match.

Forfar claimed back-to-back league wins with a 4-1 victory over Dumbarton.

An entertaining tussle saw Stuart Morrison put Forfar ahead before Leighton McIntosh levelled and two minutes later Angus Mailer restored the Loons’ lead.

Scott Shepherd extended their advantage further and Martin Rennie struck after the break to move them level on 19 points with Elgin, who drew 1-1 with Stirling.

Strugglers Stirling took the lead through Russ McLean, but Russ Dingwall’s equaliser rescued a point.
