Tottenham received a boost ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League last-16 second leg with Atletico Madrid after captain Cristian Romero and midfielder Lucas Bergvall returned to training.
Romero suffered a sickening clash of heads with team-mate Joao Palhinha in last week’s 5-2 loss in Madrid and missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Liverpool as a result.
However, Romero’s involvement in an open training session at Spurs on Tuesday raised the possibility of him being able to play in the second leg and the presence of Bergvall was a welcome bonus for boss Igor Tudor.

Bergvall has not featured for Tottenham since he suffered an ankle injury during a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on January 20.
With limited midfielder options, Tudor turned to academy graduate Callum Olusesi during the latter stages at Anfield and while the 19-year-old impressed, Bergvall’s return at a critical time for the club is much needed. Fit-again Destiny Udogie also took part.
Palhinha was spotted at Hotspur Way but took part in individual training after his clash of heads with Romero last Tuesday, but there was no Conor Gallagher in the open training session.
