Josh McPake strikes again as St Johnstone held by Queen’s Park

Josh McPake scored his 15th goal in the Scottish Championship this season to help leaders St Johnstone draw 1-1 at home to Queen’s Park.

Lowly Queen’s Park were on course for a shock victory when Euan Murray put them ahead after 32 minutes.

But McPake had other ideas and fired home from a tight angle three minutes after half-time to ensure a share of the spoils, which helped St Johnstone open up a three-point advantage at the summit to second-in-the-table Partick Thistle.

Greenock Morton boosted their survival hopes and faint promotion play-off prospects with a 2-1 home victory over third-placed Arbroath.

First-half goals by Owen Moffat and Curtis Main put the hosts in control before Findlay Marshall pulled one back for Arbroath.

But Greenock held on to move up to sixth and only four points off Dunfermline, who occupy the fourth and final play-off berth.
