Stenhousemuir miss opportunity to move top after being held by East Fife

Stenhousemuir missed a chance to go top of Scottish League One after two quickfire East Fife goals saw them draw 2-2 at Bayview Stadium.

Warriors captain Gregor Buchanan rifled into the roof of the net to open the scoring in the 23rd minute and Michael Anderson found the top corner to double their advantage two minutes after the break.

Andy Munro cut the deficit in the 72nd minute, nodding home from a throw-in, and it was his flick-on from a corner a minute later that allowed Nathan Austin to head in to leave Stenhousemuir a point behind leaders Inverness.

Kieran Shanks bagged a second-half brace, the winner from the penalty spot, as Peterhead secured a 2-1 victory over Alloa, for whom Luke Donnelly scored first in the 36th minute.

Ross Cunningham netted a second-half winner as bottom-of-the-table Kelty Hearts registered a 2-1 win over Hamilton to move them to within three points of their ninth-placed opponents.

Arran Pettifer had fired Kelty ahead in the 34th minute but that was cancelled out by Oli Shaw on the stroke of half-time before Cunningham had the final say.

League Two leaders East Kilbride remained one point clear after a 1-1 draw at second-placed Spartans.

Jordan Tapping opened the scoring for the hosts five minutes after the break, but John Robertson’s penalty with six minutes remaining ensured the spoils were shared.

Aidan Smith’s first-half goal proved decisive as Annan beat Stranraer 1-0 while basement-boys Edinburgh lost by the same score against Stirling Albion, leaving them 10 points adrift.

Second-from-bottom Dumbarton shared the points in a 2-2 draw with Forfar and goals from Kane Hester and Kyle Girvan inspired Elgin to a 2-0 victory over Clyde.
