Hong Kong target for Arc third Sosie

Sosie has a trip to Hong Kong on his agenda after another meritorious run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

The four-year-old managed to finish one place better than last year in the ParisLongchamp showpiece when third behind Daryz and Minnie Hauk.

Retirement had been mooted for the Sea The Stars colt, who is a three-time Group One winner, but Fabre is targeting the Hong Kong Vase, which he has won three times previously with Borgia (1999), Flintshire (2014) and Junko (2023).

“He ran his race (in the Arc), he ran right up to his form. The plan with him now is to go to Hong Kong,” said Fabre.

Sosie was one of two fancied runners in the Arc for Fabre along with the three-year-old Cualificar, but the latter never threatened to get involved.

“Caulificar was very unlucky in the Arc, he got pushed out very wide. We’ve put him away for next year when he should have a good season,” said Fabre.

Smart filly My Highness, who had been in contention for the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket at one stage, has also been put away for the year.

Fabre said: “We were thinking of supplementing her for Newmarket, but she started to go in her coat so she has been put away for the winter now. She has every reason to train on.”
