Tornado Alert out to take Bahrain by storm

Fresh from more success at the Breeders’ Cup, team Godolphin have their eye on further action on the international stage when Tornado Alert heads for the Bahrain International Trophy later this month.

Despite Breeders’ Cup Classic hope Sovereignty being denied his shot at greatness and Rebel’s Romance agonisingly thwarted in his quest for a historic third win in the Turf, Notable Speech ensured Sheikh Mohammed’s operation left Del Mar with plenty to cheer.

Now eyes turn to the Middle East, where Saeed bin Suroor will attempt to win Bahrain’s most prestigious race for a second time after saddling Dubai Future to see off stablemate Passion And Glory in 2022.

Fourth in the 2000 Guineas earlier this season before finishing a respectable sixth in the Derby, Tornado Alert will venture to the Bahrain fresh from registering Group One success in Germany in the summer.

“We’re always delighted when Saeed can win at the highest level and we’re excited to see him run Tornado Alert in the Middle East this winter as he closes in on his 200th Group One,” said Hugh Anderson, managing director for Godolphin in the UK and Dubai.

“He will go for the Bahrain Trophy and I know the Bahrain race isn’t a Group One yet, but it’s still an important race for Godolphin and Saeed has managed him perfectly to get the Group One under his belt in Germany in the summer.

“He’s a horse you should be watching through the winter in the Middle East and if anyone can get a good tune out of a horse there, it is Saeed bin Suroor.”
