Ed Crisford to relocate to Dubai

Ed Crisford, who currently trains in Newmarket in partnership with his father Simon, is to relocate to Dubai later this year to become private trainer to owner Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Crisford joined his father on the licence at Gainsborough Stables in 2020 and together the pair have enjoyed big-race success at home aboard with the likes of dual Group One winner Vandeek and top-class mare Choisya, who won two Group Twos at Meydan and a Group One in America last year.

The Crisfords also have a satellite yard in Dubai, from where they have sent out a number of high-profile horses this year including recent Dubai Turf runner-up Quddwah, Dubai World Cup third Meydaan and the Jumeirah 2000 Guineas winner Title Role, who on Saturday is set to return to British action in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury.

A statement from Gainsborough Thoroughbreds on Wednesday read: “Ed Crisford is set to become a licence holder in his own right in Dubai
later this year after accepting a position as private trainer to Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

“Simon and Ed Crisford formed the first licensed training partnership in Britain in May 2020 and have enjoyed significant success with 83 stakes winners including Group One winners in Britain, France and the United States.

“Ed Crisford will leave Newmarket in August to begin his new role in the UAE. Simon Crisford will continue training at Gainsborough Thoroughbreds while also operating a satellite yard during the Dubai World Cup Carnival.”
