Met Éireann issues wind and rain warnings for Donegal

Donegal is set to feel the brunt of storm-force winds and heavy rainfall with two separate weather alerts issued by forecasters

Met Eireann have issued a Status Orange wind alert

Donegal will be lashed by strong winds and heavy rain for the remainder of Thursday.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange wind warning and a Status Yellow rain warning for Donegal.

Forecasters have warned that winds will reach storm force in coastal areas. The public have been warned of potential downed trees and power outages.

Met Éireann say in an alert message that they envisage 'some severe and damaging gusts'.

The Status Orange wind alert is valid from 2-8pm on Thursday.

A Status Yellow rain warning is valid from 12 midday to 12 midnight.

Weather forecasters predict that 'frequent heavy showers or longer spells of rain will lead to localised flooding today and tonight.'
