Ballyliffin will stage R&A Amateur Championship in 2024

Having hosted the Irish Open and the R&A Womens and Mens Home Internationals, Ballyliffin Golf Club will welcome one of the biggest and most prestigious amateur championships in the world.

Ballyliffin Golf Club is already looking forward to hosting its next international tournament.

The R&A Amateur Championship will be played at Ballyliffin in June, 2024.

The Amateur Championship is one of the biggest and most prestigious amateur championships in the world.

Ballyliffin won rave reviews after staging the 2018 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, won by Russell Knox.

Last year, the R&A Womens and Mens Home Internationals were played at Ballyliffin. England edged out Ireland to top the joint standings, while Ireland’s women won the women’s competition and England were also victorious in the men’s competition.

Next, th Amateur Championship will make its way to Ballyliffin in 2024.

The first Amateur was held at Hoylake in 1885 where 44 players from 12 clubs competed.

Some of golf’s greatest names have triumphed, including Bobby Jones, Sergio Garcia and José María Olazábal.

Contested over stroke play and then match play, the winner secures exemptions into The Open and the US Open, and an invitation to play in the Masters Tournament.
