Emma Doherty scores as Ireland Under-19s claim emphatic win

Emma Doherty scored for the Republic of Ireland Under-19s as they claimed an emphatic 4-1 win over Croatia in Norway on Tuesday.

Buncrana woman Doherty captained the Girls in Green as they took victory in their final UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship Round 2 qualifier.

The win sees Dave Connell's side guarantee themselves a spot as second seeds for the next campaign.

Eva Mangan fired Ireland in front late in the first half and they never looked back.

Scarlett Herron doubled the lead, tucking home after Eve Dossen hit the crossbar.

Andrea Iljkić pulled a goal back for Croatia, but Jenna Slattery hit back for Ireland.

Two minutes before the end, Doherty, who plays for Sligo Rovers, surged clear and finished to the bottom corner to cap off an impressive display.
