Sam Todd can’t wait to get stuck in again after returning to Derry City.

The Carndonagh man is back at the Brandywell after spells at Finn Harps and UCD.

Todd has joined the traveling Derry City party for Thursday night’s Europa Conference clash with HB Torshavn.

"I left Derry to try to get more first team football, and funnily enough my only senior appearance first time around was in a Europa qualifier,” the 25-year-old central defender said.

"I've played with Shane McEleney and Ciaran Coll at Harps and played against Mark Connolly a few times.

"I obviously know Ronan Boyce well and have seen Cameron McJannet and the others like Ben Doherty too; so I know the quality that's there.

"As well as working with them I'm ready to learn from them too and I can't wait to get started."

Todd graduated from the Derry City Academy and joined the first team squad in 2017. He was subsequently snapped up by then Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan before taking up a scholarship offer from UCD.

Candy stripes manager Ruaidhri Higgins is delighted to get the Donegal native on board.

Higgins said: “He has gained really good experience at this level over the last couple of seasons.

"We have quality players in our defence and Sam will definitely add to our options in that area of the pitch, with a busy second half of the season coming up."
