Conan Kearney is through to the semi-finals of the 2023 National Senior Cadet Championships.

The St Bridget’s Clonmany boxer will fight in the last four this Friday night at the National Stadium after recording two wins over the weekend.

Kearney defeated Gareth McCann of Oliver Plunkett, Antrim in his 66kgs preliminary bout on Friday night.

Kearney followed up with a superb win over Tony Moran from the St Paul’s club in Waterford on Saturday. Kearney took a 4-1 split decision win.

The Inishowen puncher has now teed up a semi-final joust with Pat Corcoran from Galway.

Kearney was the Irish Boy 2 56kgs champion in 2021 and recently won gold at the William Wallace Box Cup in Scotland.

He will be the sole Donegal boxer to go through the National Stadium’s ropes for the semi-finals.

On Friday night, Raphoe Boxing Club’s David Tennyson lost out to Kilmyshall’s Patrick Kelly at 57kgs while Twin Towns’ Caoimhin Connolly was beaten by Michael O’Reilly from St Paul’s Waterford in the 44kgs division.
