The last two Inishowen League champions have been pitted against each other in the third round of the FAI Junior Cup.

Greencastle FC and Buncrana Hearts have been drawn together in a tasty tie.

Greencastle won the Jackie Crossan Premier Division in the 2021/22 season, but Gary Duffy’s Buncrana Hearts took the silverware to Castle Park last term.

Last season, Buncrana reached the quarter-finals of the FAI Junior Cup, losing out to the eventual runners-up, St Michael’s from Tipperary, 1-0.

At the weekend, Matthew Brown’s second-half header gave Buncrana a 1-0 derby win over Illies.

Greencastle came from 2-0 down to defeat Castlefin Celtic 4-2 with second-half goals by Brennan Moore, Nathan Harkin (2) and Nigel McMonagle sealing a passage to the third round.

Elsewhere, there are two Donegal-Inishowen clashes. Aileach FC will host Letterkennyt Rovers at the Lakeside with Kilmacrennan Celtic having home advantage against Cockhill Celtic, who were last season’s Intermediate Cup finalists.

The third round ties are slated for the weekend ending November 5.

FAI Junior Cup, Third Round draw: Kilmacrennan Celtic v Cockhill Celtic; Aileach FC v Letterkenny Rovers; Greencastle FC v Buncrana Hearts.
