Liam McIntyre and Kyle McBride celebrate in Wales.
Rising Carndonagh rally driver Kyle McBride took a class win at the Cambrian Rally in Wales on Saturday and was just pipped for the Junior British Rally Championship title in the process.
McBride, with Donegal Town’s Liam McIntyre as co-driver, finished sixth overall in the Cambrian Rally in a Ford Fiesta Rally4. After the six stages, McBride and McIntyre were the leading Junior BRC crew.
Last year, McBride won the BRC Academy Trophy, sealing the title at Rali Ceredigion in Aberystwth. With that, the Inishowen man earned free entries to each Junior BRC round this year.
McBride took his first Junior win at the Tracked Rally in Yorkshire in September and pushed Antrim’s Kyle White all the way in the overall Championship.
White, who had Sean Topping on the notes in the Peugeot 208 Rally4, finished ninth at the Cambrian Rally to take the title.
McBride is a Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy driver.
