Donegal County Council has refused planning permission for an industrial building in Fahan.

The local authority has rejected an application for a new development at the Lisfannon Industrial Estate.

The application, submitted by John and Christopher Duffy, sought permission for the construction of a single storey industrial building, totalling 583.6 square metres.

The proposed development was to comprise four individual industrial units along with a connection to all existing services.

The application was submitted in December 2022 and in the days before Christmas a decision was conveyed.

Donegal County Council said it was not satisfied that adequate vision lines can be provided at the junction of the private road onto the local road in accordance with the standards set out in Chapter 10 of the County Donegal Development Plan.

The local authority said that to permit the proposed development ‘would give rise to a traffic hazard or obstruction of road users, would materially contravene the aforementioned policy provisions of the County Donegal Development Plan 2018-2024 (as varied) and would thereby be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area’.
