In pictures: Huge crowd at 2024 Ballyliffin Coastal Challenge

Around 1,000 runners turned out on Easter Saturday for the 2024 Ballyliffin Coastal Challenge, which saw a bumper crowd of supporters lining the scenic route of the 10-mile and seven-mile races, finishing on Pollan Strand

The Easter sun beat down on Saturday as around 1,000 participants competed in the 2024 Ballyliffin Coastal Challenge.

Races over 10 miles and seven miles saw another bumper entry flock to the Inishowen town with thousands turning out to spectate and support.

The scenic event finished on Pollan Strand having been started by Fr Michael Sweeney.

Finn Valley AC's Jon-Jo Doherty won in a new course record of 54 minutes and 34 seconds after pulling away from Kyle Doherty, the City of Derry Spartans athlete, who pushed him all the way.

Ciara Toner of City of Derry Spartans was the female winner in 64:42 to retain her title from Emma Boyle from Craughwell (65:08) with Denise McCann from Ballycastle third (68:34).

Craughwell's Anthony Boyle won the seven-mile race in 46:09, ahead of John McConnell (RunHub) and Darragh Reynolds (Swinford) while Foyle Valley's Dolores Quinn was the lead female over seven miles, ahead of Nuala McDonough and Annalisa Mullan.
