Mark Alcorn in action
In the recent Circuit of Ireland Rally held in Dungannon, Letterkenny’s Mark Alcorn and Redcastle’s Darren Curran demonstrated their prowess, securing a commendable seventh place overall and clinching second position in their class aboard their Ford Escort Mark II.
Representing Donegal with distinction, Alcorn and Curran stood out as the top performers from the county, just behind Kiltoy's Rory Kennedy who navigated for Garry Jennings who finished in fifth place.
The victors of the Circuit of Ireland Rally were Welsh duo Matt Edwards and co-driver David Moynihan, navigating their Ford Fiesta Rally2 to triumph after an intense eight-stage, single-day affair.
Despite leading for a substantial portion of the rally, Irish Tarmac Championship frontrunners Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvan had to settle for second place, trailing by a margin of 14.4 seconds in their Ford Fiesta Rally 2.
Claiming the third spot were Josh Moffett and Andy Hayes, crossing the finish line one minute and 46.1 seconds adrift in a Citroen C3Rally2.
Rounding out the top five finishers were Cathan McCourt and Brian Hoy in a Ford Fiesta, followed by Garry Jennings and Rory Kennedy in a Ford Fiesta Rally 2.
Further down the leaderboard, Joseph McGonigle and Ciaran Geaney secured ninth place overall with their Citroen C3 Rally2, while Damien Tourish and Domhnall McAlaney closed the rally in 11th position.
