Ronan Doherty
Carndonagh’s Ronan Doherty helped Cliftonville lift the Irish Cup on Saturday afternoon thanks to two extra-time goals from Ronan Hale.
The victory was Cliftonville’s first cup triumph in 45 years as they eventually seen off Linfield 3-1 at Windsor Park.
The sides were level at 1-1 at the end of normal time after Ethan McGee’s 13th-minute breakthrough was cancelled out by a Sam Ashford header seven minutes into the second-half.
But just a minute into extra-time, Hale pushed the Reds in front and into added time at the end of the second period there the same player made sure of things when he raced clear to roll home to an unguarded net.
