Jack McSharry in action for Killybegs at the weekend
Naomh Padraig, Uisce Chaoin 0-12
Killybegs 2-11
Killybegs continue to set the pace in Division Two of the All-County League following Saturday evening’s five-point win over Naomh Padraig, Uisce Chaoin.
Ryan Cunningham and Michael Callaghan scored the goals for the Fishermen club, while Cunningham also chipped in with four points and was his side’s top scorer on the day.
Rory Hirrell, Johnny Toye, and Kevin Lynch carried the local's main scoring threat with nine of their side’s 10 points.
Killybegs began the game on the front foot and had five points on the scoreboard before Naomh Padraig opened their account 11 minutes into the game.
And thanks to a Michael Callaghan goal, Killybegs led 1-7 to 0-3 leaving the locals with a mountain to climb.
Naomh Padraig did put on a spurt on the resumption after half-time and cut the Killybegs' advantage to five points.
But a second goal tucked away by Cunningham in the middle of the second-half period hastened the end of the Naomh Padraig challenge.
Killybegs headed for the hill with a seventh win from seven games and two more league points in the bag as they sit at the top of the division on 14 points.
