Jason McGee has not been included in the matchday 26 this weekend
Jason McGee has been omitted from the Donegal squad to play Clare this weekend in MacHale Park, Castlebar, in the final round-robin match of the All-Ireland series as Jim McGuinness names his starting XV.
McGee has been a mainstay in this season’s championship run, with an exceptional partnership alongside Michael Langan in midfield.
However, the Cloughaneely man was always a doubt over the past two weeks since he was taken off with a hamstring injury in the 41st minute and replaced by Odhrán Doherty in Donegal’s 3-7 to 0-16 loss to Cork at Pairc Uí Rinn.
According to the line-up, Mark Curran, who hasn’t featured since the Ulster final win over Armagh, is to come in at corner-back, with Eoghan Bán Gallagher filling the spot in the other corner, while Ciarán Moore replaces McGee in midfield, but we’ll have to wait and see as to whether the St Eunan’s man will take up the spot in the middle of the park.
The panel also sees the return of Hugh McFadden and Conor O’Donnell to the bench, while Gavin Mulreany drops out of the panel for this weekend and is replaced by Daithi Roberts.
The return of O’Donnell will no doubt boost the Donegal squad, with the Carndonagh ace failing to make an appearance yet this season for the county due to injury.
Donegal defeated the side managed by Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan 0-21 to 0-14 in Ballybofey to open their campaign, before going down to Cork on a 3-9 to 0-16 scoreline
Donegal will face Clare this Saturday in MacHale Park, Castlebar, with throw-in at 3pm.
There is no television and streaming coverage of Donegal’s fixture, with the GAAGo live from the meeting of Cork and Tyrone.
Donegal team to face Clare: Shaun Patton; Mark Curran, Brendan McCole, Eoghan Bán Gallagher; Ryan McHugh, Caolan McGonagle, Peadar Mogan; Ciarán Moore, Michael Langan; Shane O’Donnell, Ciaran Thompson, Daire Ó Baoill; Patrick McBrearty, Oisin Gallen, Niall O’Donnell.
