Donegal's Ryan McHugh in action against Clare
Ryan McHugh has been voted GAA.ie Footballer of the Week for the second time this season in this year’s championship campaign.
The Donegal star received 3,632 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Armagh's Conor Turbitt (2,608) and Dublin's Cormac Costello (2,400).
The Kilcar native was the star man in Donegal's emphatic All-Ireland SFC win over Clare, with the classy half-back driving forward from deep, at every available opportunity, scoring 1-4 for Jim McGuinness’s outfit.
McHugh previously won this award following Donegal’s impressive victory over Tyrone at Celtic Park in the Ulster semi-final back in April.
In winning this award, McHugh joins his half-back partner Peadar Mogan as the second Donegal man to win the award twice with the St Naul’s man claiming this honour following Donegal’s Ulster final win over Armagh, and their side’s victory over Tyrone in MacCumhaill Park last month in the first round of the round-robin series.
Daire Ó Baoill is the third Donegal man to clinch this award this championship season after his superb display against Derry in Celtic Park during the Ulster quarter-final.
