On Thursday July 25 the Davey Owens family reunion took place at the Ballyliffin hotel. One of the event organisers was Celia McDermott.
This is the second reunion, the last one was 19 years ago. The family had been trying to organise this since before Covid.
Most of the family involved in this reunion came over from Chicago and Boston. This reunion had some new music. This was the first time some of the younger kids got over.
The original family was the McLaughlins from Glengad. They had eight children, seven of whom immigrated to the states, only James McLaughlin stayed behind to help his parents with the farm.
The family had a great night in the Ballyliffin hotel, with some live music. The American families are now exploring the area where the ancestors were from.
