Malin goals prove the difference against Red Hughs in Intermediate opening clash

The home side, who were relegated from Division 2 earlier this season, put up a strong fight against Malin for most of the game, but two goals proved the difference as the Inishowen men secured the victory

Seamus Houghton and Terence Doherty scored the goals that proved the difference for Malin in this keenly contested opening-round Intermediate championship clash in Páirc Aodh Ruadh in Killygordon against Red Hughs.  

The veteran Doherty also kicked two points while Paul McLaughlin and Darragh Douglas scored the other points for Malin, who were last year’s beaten Intermediate finalist.  

The ever reliable and sharpshooter Calvin Bradley top scored for the locals and ended the game with four points to his name as Red Hughs, who were relegated from Division Two at the start of the season, matched the Division 1 side, but just couldn’t find that extra bite, with the men from Inishowen securing a three-point win in the end. 

Red Hugh scorers: Calvin Bradley 0-4; Liam Carlin, Colm Melaugh, and James Doherty 0-1 each. Malin scorers: Terence Doherty 1-2; Seamus Houghton 1-0; Paul McLaughlin, and Darragh Douglas 0-1 each.
