Finn Harps have announced that Stephen Doherty has left the club
Finn harps have confirmed that Stephen Doherty has left the club due to work and travel commitments.
Doherty re-joined the Harps in July 2023 after spells with Institute and Dergview, having played for the club at Under 17, Under 19 and Ulster Senior League level and the first team.
Taking to social media Harps stated: “Everyone at Finn Harps wishes to thank Stephen for his efforts and commitment during his time at the club and wish him the best for the future.”
When he returned to Harps in 2023, the Inishowen man stated that if he had his way he’d never have left in the first place.
“I played a few games in the Premier Division with Harps. Obviously, I went away and played with Dergview. I loved every minute of that. Championship there is a great and competitive league. I really enjoyed it.
“But I got the shout to come back here and it was something I wanted to do and I’m really glad to be back. It’s a big move. I didn’t really want to leave at the time but I had to go to get games. I just wanted to play football.”
The 24-year-old has made 19 league appearances this season for Finn Harps, last appearing off the bench against Wexford two weeks ago.
