Different: Total number of different scorers was 198; in 2023 it was 205 + 2 Own goals by opponents (208+1 Own goal in 2022)
Panel: Eight of the county senior panel for this year make the top scoring list for their clubs
No change: St. Naul’s were only club to have exactly the same three top scorers as last year
Top hitters: Patrick McBrearty tops the scoring charts for the third time in five years, hitting the exact same total as the previous year.
Jack Gallagher enters the list for the first time at number two
Seanan Carr becomes the first player to score six goals for the year
New record: For the first time ever a club Dungloe have four players in the top scorers with St Michael’s having three listed
Gone missing: Forty nine players who hit the scoring target for their clubs in 2023 didn’t enjoy that feeing this year.
Goal Shy: Ten of the sixteen teams scored five goals or less in all their championship matches.
Low scoring: Of the 92 scores in the 46 matches this year teams scored ten points or less on 41 occasions while in 32 of these a total of nine points or less were scored making an average yield of 44.5%
BATTLE OF THE GOALIES
Once again county goalkeeper Gavin Mulreany was tops in the goalies stakes with 0-09 but pushed hard by Dungloe’s Danny Rodgers who registered 0-06 with Daithi Roberts scoring 0-01. Only half the total who ventured up field to score the previous year did so in 2024.
