Glengad's five goalscorers from their Ulster Senior Shield win over Illies
Ulster Junior Shield
Illies Res 0 – 5 Glengad United
The home side started brightly, creating two good chances in the opening 15 minutes. Conor Doherty’s cross found John Campbell, whose downward header was well saved by Michael McLaughlin. Shortly after, Nathan McLaughlin’s snapshot from a Campbell cross was also saved.
Glengad settled and took the lead on 30 minutes when Aaron Doherty latched onto a through ball to slot low past Conor Doherty. Just before halftime, Oran Doherty's cross found Joe Doherty, who finished superbly into the top corner with his left foot.
In the second half, a mix-up in the Illies defence allowed Ronan Lafferty to make it 3-0. Stephen Doherty added a fourth, flicking home at the near post from a Lafferty cross. The scoring was completed when another Joe Doherty cross was hooked home by Stephen Doherty.
Jackie Crossan Premier Division
Greencastle FC 0 – 4 Cockhill Celtic
Cockhill dominated the first half, but Greencastle’s goalkeeper William O’Carroll made several superb saves to keep the score level. Early chances fell to Stephen Duffy and Corey McBride, but both missed the target.
The visitors broke the deadlock shortly after halftime when Christy McLaughlin’s shot was parried, and Conor Graham slotted home the rebound. McBride doubled the lead with a stunning strike from the edge of the area. Damien Duffy’s deflected effort made it 3-0, and Luke Rudden completed the scoring from the penalty spot after being fouled.
Aileach FC 3 – 1 Carn FC
Aileach opened the scoring early when Darren McMonagle’s cross was turned home by Daniel Doherty. Carn equalised just before halftime after a defensive error allowed Mark Doherty to finish under the keeper.
In the second half, Gavin Doherty restored Aileach’s lead, reacting quickest to a flick-on from a free kick. Dermot Doherty added a third after a well-worked move down the right. Carn almost pulled one back late on, but Darren Gallagher cleared a curling effort off the line.
Illies Celtic 0 – 5 Buncrana Hearts
Buncrana took an early lead when Bart Wesolowski set up Matthew Brown to score. Brown added a second shortly after, and Kevin O’Loughlin headed home a free kick for a third.
The second half was scrappy, but Buncrana added two late goals. Liam Jordan slotted home after a rebound, and Brown completed his hat-trick in the final minute.
Culdaff FC 2 – 3 Clonmany Shamrocks
Clonmany opened the scoring through Jamie McKinney, but Culdaff equalised before halftime via Ryan Greene’s header. Clonmany regained the lead with Aaron Porter’s penalty, but Culdaff levelled again when Michael Coyle headed home.
Clonmany’s Shane McCaul volleyed in the winner from 12 yards. Culdaff had a late chance, but Conor McColgan couldn’t convert.
HML Plant Hire Division One
Aileach Res 0 – 1 Cockhill Youths
Darragh McDermott’s header from a free kick gave Cockhill an early lead. Aileach missed a golden chance to equalise when Kevin Boyle won a penalty, but James Wallace’s spot-kick hit the crossbar.
Despite Aileach’s late pressure, Cockhill defended well to secure the win.
Dunree United 0 – 2 Moville Celtic
Moville broke the deadlock after a defensive mix-up allowed Michael McNaught’s deflected shot to beat Adam Harrigan. Moments later, McNaught scored again, drilling low past Harrigan.
Dunree struggled to create clear chances, while Moville came close to a third when Norbert Indyka’s shot hit the crossbar.
Buncrana Res 1 – 5 Rashenny FC
Rashenny took the lead through Ronan Shovlin and added a second after poor defending allowed Anthony Doherty to score.
Despite a consolation goal for Buncrana by Seanan Murphy, Rashenny extended their lead with further goals from David McLaughlin and Adam Doherty.
Carn Youths 1 – 1 QPS
QPS opened the scoring with Josh Boyle’s stunning strike, but Carn equalised when Dayton Cooke fired home from a free kick.
Both teams had chances in the second half, but neither could find a winner.
Inishowen Engineering Division Two
Cockhill Res 8 – 2 Rashenny Youths
Cockhill produced a dominant performance, with Niall Breslin netting a hat-trick. Other goals came from Shay Devlin, Devin McCarron, and Sean Bradley (penalty).
James Doherty and Oran McDevitt scored Rashenny’s goals, but Cockhill’s superior firepower was decisive.
Cockhill Colts 0 – 2 Sea Rovers
Sea Rovers took an early lead when a corner deflected in off a Cockhill defender. Andrew Gallagher doubled the advantage before halftime with a strike from the edge of the area.
Despite Cockhill’s pressure in the second half, the Rovers’ defence held firm to secure the win.
Culdaff Res 0 – 1 Dunree Res
Oisin McGettigan’s second-half strike proved decisive as Dunree edged a tight encounter. Despite late pressure from Culdaff, Dunree’s defence remained resolute.
Moville Res 1 – 3 Aileach Youths
Aileach’s Aaron Doherty and Yanga Molodo scored before halftime. Doherty added a third with a long-range effort in the second half.
Moville managed a late consolation through Jack Lee, but Aileach’s strong performance secured the points.
QPS Youths 1 – 1 Rashenny Res
Nathan Doherty’s composed finish gave Rashenny the lead, but Adam Harkin’s controlled strike levelled the game. Both sides pushed for a winner, but the defences held firm.
