Senator Maria McCormack and Councillor Dakota Nic Mheanman
An endometriosis awareness event will take place in Ballybofey this week.
The information and storytelling session, led by Sinn Fein, will be held at 5pm on Thursday, March 20, at the Villa Rose Hotel.
Senator Maria McCormack from Laois and Donegal County Councillor Dakota Nic Mheanman will take part in the event as speakers.
March is endometriosis awareness month and this event is designed to raise awareness of a chronic condition that is now said to affect one in 10 women.
Senator McCormack has first hand experience of how traumatic and life-altering the condition can be. Senator McCormack says she understands the urgent need for better awareness, healthcare and support.
Thursday’s session is a safe space for women to: hear about endometriosis and its impact; share their personal stories and experiences; discuss the next steps and create a plan for action.
“The event is part of a national movement to push for change,” Senator McCormack said.
