Planning permission is being sought to build 41 apartments in Buncrana

The plans consist of three different apartment blocks comprising the overall development at Ardaravan, which will be adjacent to Sliabh Sneacht estate and 230m from Buncrana Main Street.

The application lodged by developer Michael Doherty includes retention permission for the temporary use of the site for the storage of building materials and equipment.

The development application also includes permission for bike and bin storage with connections to all public services and all other associated site development works.

This is the second application to build apartments on the site, as a previous application to construct five blocks consisting of 42 apartments at the start of this year was withdrawn.

According to the architects for the project, Michael Friel Architects & Surveyors, outlined in the application that the previous project was halted with a revised design “due to issues which arose during the planning process, including the proximity of the apartment blocks to a neighbouring third party property.”

“We hope that we have now resolved any of those issues through consultation with the Planning Authority and an increase in the separation distance between the apartments and the third-party property.”
