Offaly motorist caught speeding during huge Garda operation

Donegal Gardai clocked a motorist driving at 159km/h in treacherous conditions on Friday night.

The driver was caught by the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit in the Newtowncunningham area, in an area governed 100km/h speed limit.

Gardai say that conditions were 'extremely dangerous' at the time.

The driver has been charged to appear in court.

A Garda spokesperson said: “We do not want any family to have an empty seat at their Christmas Dinner table this year because of a reckless decision made on the roads.

“Don't let the road safety message in one ear and out the other. Take it on board and save lives. SLOW DOWN.”
