Just some of the damage to the playing pitch at Glengad

Thugs crashed through the gates of an Inishowen soccer club's ground and damaged the playing pitch last night.

In a statement, Glengad FC expressed its annoyance at what happened.

"We are disappointed at Glengad FC to see the vandalism that took place at the pitch in the Crua.

"Some thugs thought it funny to ram the gate and then proceed to severely damage the playing pitch.

"These things don’t normally happen in our community. The committee has worked tirelessly to build the best facilities for our players and the whole community and it is unfortunate that these thugs don’t appreciate this.

They also issued an appeal to the public for help in tracking down the culprits.

"If anyone has any information please contact the gardaí in Carndonagh or any committee member."
