Man’s gunshot injuries no longer life-threatening, say gardai

A man is no longer in a life-threatening condition after turning up at a Cork hospital with gunshot wounds, gardai said.

The man, in his 40s, arrived at Cork University Hospital just before 5am on Friday.

He is continuing to receive treatment for his injuries.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the shooting incident in the Wilton Manor area of Cork City on Friday morning.

An examination of the scene has been completed and an incident room has been established at Togher Garda station.

Gardai are particularly appealing for information on the movements of a silver saloon car that was observed in the Summerstown Drive, Summerstown Road, Wilton Court and Wilton Manor areas at the time of the shooting.

It is understood the car then travelled from the scene in the direction of Bishopstown.

Anyone with video or dashcam footage from these locations between approximately 4.45am and 5.45am on Friday is asked to make it available to investigating gardai.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Togher Garda station on 021 494 7120, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
