Driver killed as two lorries collide

A man has been killed in a crash involving two lorries in Co Monaghan.

Gardai said the crash happened on the R188 between Coutehill and Rockcorry shortly before 4pm on Monday.

The driver of one of the lorries, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other lorry was uninjured.

Gardai remained at the scene on Monday evening.

Part of the R188 between Cootehill and Rockcorry was expected to remain closed into Tuesday with local diversions in place.

Forensic collision investigators have been requested.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Road users who have camera footage from the R188 between Cootehill and Rockcorry between 3.45pm and 4.15pm are asked to make the pictures available to investigators.
