A search for a missing climber in Co Cork has been stood down following the discovery of a body.
Emergency services initiated a search for the man, aged in his 20s, in the Baltimore area on Thursday evening.
The effort included the Irish Coast Guard, rescue helicopters, a lifeboat, gardai and Civil Defence.
A body was located and recovered following the resumption of the search at first light on Friday morning.
In a statement, a gardai spokesperson said: “Following the recovery of a body this morning, Friday 5th September 2025, a search operation for a man in his 20s reported missing in Baltimore, Co Cork has been stood down.
“His body has since been removed from the scene.
“The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.”
