Man dies three weeks after suffering serious injuries in Monaghan car crash

A 47-year-old man has died three weeks after suffering serious injuries in a car crash.

Emergency services were called to Broad Road in Monaghan in the early hours of September 6 after an SUV hit the man, who was on foot.

He was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was treated for serious injuries.

Gardai said he died in hospital on Saturday.

The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

Investigations are now under way into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

A Gardai spokesperson said: “Road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make it available to the investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77 200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
