In a statement they said uniformed Gardai were on patrol at a bonfire on Cashel Avenue in Crumlin on Friday evening when fireworks and missiles were fired at them, forcing them to withdraw.
Public order units were then deployed to allow Dublin Fire Brigade to attend safely.
At about 6.30pm Gardai on the scene were told a firework had been fired into a private residence.
A woman was treated at the scene by Dublin Fire Brigade before being brought to St James’s Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

They have also asked anyone who might have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to their investigators.
