Woman seriously injured after firework reportedly launched into a home

A woman in her 30s was seriously injured by a firework which was reportedly launched into a home in Dublin on Halloween night, Gardai have said.

In a statement they said uniformed Gardai were on patrol at a bonfire on Cashel Avenue in Crumlin on Friday evening when fireworks and missiles were fired at them, forcing them to withdraw.

Public order units were then deployed to allow Dublin Fire Brigade to attend safely.

At about 6.30pm Gardai on the scene were told a firework had been fired into a private residence.

A woman was treated at the scene by Dublin Fire Brigade before being brought to St James’s Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area between 5.45pm and 6.45pm on Friday to come forward.

They have also asked anyone who might have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to their investigators.
