Suspected cocaine worth more than 3.7 million euros seized at Rosslare Europort

Suspected cocaine estimated to be worth more than 3.7 million euros was seized at Rosslare Europort on Monday, Revenue have said.

Around 53.5kgs of the drug were discovered in the exhaust system of a freight unit on a ferry from France.

It was uncovered by officers with the help of Daithi, a detector dog, and a mobile x-ray scanner.

A man in his 40s was arrested by An Garda Siochana and is being held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in the south-east and investigations are ongoing.

Revenue put the estimated value of the haul at 3,747,765 euros.
