Woman in her 60s dies after truck crashes in Dublin

A woman aged in her 60s has died after a truck crashed in Dublin on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident, involving a truck and a pedestrian, took place at the junction of Church Road and Bridge Street, Swords, shortly before 12.30pm.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Forensic collision investigators are carrying out a technical examination of the scene and the road remains closed.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

In particular, Gardai are seeking the assistance of the driver of a small, silver hatchback car that was not involved in the collision, but was travelling behind the truck at the time along Church Road before turning left into the Rathbeale Road travelling away from Swords.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam footage, and were travelling in the area of Church Road and Bridge Street, Swords, between 12.10pm and 12.40pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai.
