Naas District Court
A Newbridge resident was fined €1,000 in Naas District Court on Thursday, January 12, for an assault offence.
It was heard on a previous date that Chrystian Dubert, with an address given as 11 Wallace Court in Newbridge, had assaulted another man at Eyre Court, Eyre Street, Newbridge on May 3, 2020.
On the latest court date, gardaí said that the 43-year-old had become involved in an argument with the father of his partner’s child.
Mr Dubert alleged that the man pushed his partner, which prompted him to assault him.
It was heard that the other man suffered a black eye as a result of the altercation, but ultimately, he suffered no long-term injuries.
At one point in the case, Judge Desmond Zaidan noted that the defendant appeared to be laughing to himself.
Mr Dubert’s solicitor said that his client was apologetic over the incident, and said that his client had no previous convictions.
Judge Zaidan decided to impose a €1,000 fine on Mr Dubert, which would be donated to Men’s Aid.
When the judge said that he would give Mr Dubert three months to pay it, Mr Dubert said that he could pay it within two weeks, the judge changed the deadline for him.
