Kildare ended their 2013 Allianz Football League campaign with a well-deserved five point of Meath at St Conleth's Park, Newbridge, this afternoon, the last game at the venue before redevelopment commences this week, which will see the grounds closed for 18 months or so.
Kildare dominated for most of the game, leading by five at half-time (0-8 to 0-3) against a Meath side that rarely threatened.
Darragh Kirwan fired over three points from play in that opening half as he threatened time and time again.
The second half was more of the same and while Meath did step it up somemwhat, mainly through placed balls but never really looked like they would cause an upset.
In the end Kildare had five points to spare and are more or less assured of compelting in the All-Ireland series later in the summer.
Final score: Kildare 0-13 Meath 0-8.
