The fire at McDonald's
A number of firefighters and gardaí are currently attending the scene of a blaze that has engulfed the McDonald's Restaurant in Newbridge.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Black-grey smoke could be seen as far as the Newbridge Industrial Estate, the top of Edward Street, the town's Skatepark and Newbridge Retail Park.
The dark smoke also filled up the carpark of the nearby Tesco store.
As firefighters attempt to put out the blaze, gardaí are diverting traffic and bystanders away from the area.
