A court case involving an estimated €2 million worth of cocaine in North Kildare has been sent forward for trial.
The allegations involve John Donaghy, of Ballynamullagh in Carbury, but who is currently remanded in custody.
The court was told earlier this year that the 59-year-old was charged with having the suspected drugs for sale or supply on July 15 last at Ballynamullagh.
It was alleged that during the initial search, gardaí seized around 29 kilograms of cocaine.
Gardaí further claimed that around €111,000 in cash notes were also seized.
On Thursday, November 2 last, it was heard that Mr Donaghy would be sent forward for trial.
After a book of evidence was served on Mr Donaghy by gardaí, substitute Judge Philip O'Leary sent Mr Donaghy forward for trial to the next sittings of Naas Circuit Criminal Court, which will commence on January 16, 2024.
The judge also agreed to certify for junior and senior counsel for the trial.
He remanded the defendant in custody until the case resumes.
